About
Building at the intersections.
The story behind the work: regenerative agriculture, technology leadership, podcasting, and systems thinking.
I’m Cal Hardage, an entrepreneur, technologist, educator, and rancher. My work sits at the intersection of regenerative agriculture, technology leadership, and purposeful business building.
The Thread That Connects
On the surface, hosting a regenerative agriculture podcast, building software tools for podcasters, and providing fractional technology leadership might seem like unrelated pursuits. But they share a common foundation: systems thinking.
Whether I’m managing grazing rotations across pastures, architecting software systems, or advising businesses on technology strategy, I’m always looking for the same things: patterns, relationships, and practical decisions that create lasting results over time.
Regenerative Agriculture
Through the Grazing Grass Podcast, I’ve had hundreds of conversations with ranchers, farmers, researchers, and thought leaders who are proving that profitable agriculture and ecological health are complementary outcomes. This work has deepened my understanding of complex adaptive systems in ways that directly inform my technology practice.
Technology Leadership
With more than two decades in education and technology leadership, I bring an educator’s perspective to strategic technology decisions. I work with rural schools that need experienced technology leadership without the cost of a full-time director. My focus is helping schools choose and implement practical technology solutions that support student learning and fit the realities of rural budgets.
Software & Products
I build software tools that serve communities I’m embedded in. Podgraze and Poddric are born from real needs I’ve experienced as a podcast producer. Load It Trailers emerged from understanding the practical demands of needing an expensive item for occasionally use. Every product starts with a problem I’ve felt personally.
Philosophy
I believe that ambitious work can happen anywhere including rural Oklahoma. I believe that the best businesses serve their communities while building economic resilience. And I believe that the careful observation required by regenerative land management makes us better technologists, leaders, and thinkers.
This website is a place where these different areas of work come together and where I share what I’m building and learning.
